About Me

Melissa
I grew up in a village of 500 people and now live in a beach town of 10 000. Wife to Jeff, Mama to Makenna and Jack. This is my place to share what's up with us, and the place where I sometimes need to pour my heart out about the not so sunshiney moments. This is my happy place. I love you...I love you not...

I love you....

My Slapchop Yeah yeah, I know "you're going to love my nuts!" Whatever. I love my slapchop. I use it a lot for chopping...you guessed it...nuts... for cheesecakes, and it works awesome. I use this thing at least once a week and it works really well. Love it.

Compost An odd statement, I know. We have 2 big compost bins in our backyard and the time has come to spread it all around the various flower beds and the garden. I just find it so cool how it all works. It cuts down on my garbage and I really believe it makes a difference in how my flowers and vegetables grow. I learned about compost from Jeff's family, as my grandma, the gardening guru, has never done it. She says its too smelly...too dirty.
Imagine that...dirt being...dirty. Anyways, our bins are at the back of our yard and don't bother us, and I love the results that come from dumping in egg shells, teabags, coffee grounds, banana peels, potato peelings, etc etc etc. Such a simple thing. love it.

My camera! Last week I posted that I didn't love my camera because it got ruined after I left it outside in the rain all night...but it has been reborn! I guess it dried out or something, cause now it works fine! Whew! Money I was not ready to spend, and now I don't have to!

I love you not....

Meal Planning - I know, it was my idea! But it's hard for me. When I actually sit down and think about it I get frustrated with the same old thing each week. So you readers HAVE to comment with some new ideas for me...please?

Yesterday, on my day away shopping with my mother in law, we stopped at Legg's, an awesome store in Birr, just outside of London. Yes, the town's name is Birr. No it is not colder than anywhere else nearby. Anyway, I stopped there because they sell wooden blocks with letters on them, that you would buy to spell out a baby's name for their room, or spell out your last name for a shelf in your living room, or spell out "Welcome", or anything really. I wanted to spell out the name of the baby that a friend of mine just had. It's a name that you can't always find on all that personalised stuff. Anyway, they didn't have one of the letters I needed. I was annoyed. Does anyone know of anywhere else nearby you can get these block letters?

I've been pulling out all the bbq favourites for our menu plan! We love homemade turkey burgers and Brandon loves making shishkabobs! I love how clean my kitchen stays and how it gets him involved too! And I love big summer salads too! I have a really great spinach one that I'm waiting for the perfect evening to make! We do Mexican a fair bit too!
