Is your child starting school next Fall? Kinderoo is for YOU!!

I wanted to pass this along to those of you who have children starting JK/SK in the fall.  Kinderoo is a school readiness program that takes place in the summer, in local schools.  Children who have never been to school before are able to practice the routines of getting up, getting ready and getting out the door on time, as well as the process of separating from their grown ups.  They meet other children their age, some of whom will be attending their school with them in September and may even be in their Kindergarten class.  They are able to practice the routines of hanging up their belongings, finding and using the washrooms, sitting and participating in groups and interacting with the teacher.  Kinderoo classes have no more than 16 students and have at least qualified 2 facilitators.

There is a fee of $100/child.

When they start school in September, the children are already used to many of the routines, have already made friends and in some cases are already used to the building itself.

There are still spaces available for this summer's program in both the GODERICH and WINGHAM afternoon programs (12:50pm-3:50pm). All other programs are full at this point and some have waiting lists.  The Goderich program is taking place at Goderich Public School, the Wingham program at Sacred Heart Catholic School   Please note your child does not have to be attending that school in the fall in order to attend Kinderoo - as long as you can get your child to and from the Kinderoo location, that's all that matters.

I endorse this program both professionally and personally; Makenna participated in it before she started school 4 years ago (!!!) and Jack is enrolled in this summer's program.

If you would like to sign your child(ren) up for either the Goderich or Wingham afternoon program, please call the number listed below ASAP.  The deadline is tomorrow, but it will be extended in order to fill the programs.

Rural Response for Healthy Children presents
Kinderoo - School Readiness Program 2012
KINDEROO - School Readiness Program supports and strengthens a child’s self awareness, confidence and self-esteem. These attributes help children to succeed in school. Children learn about school routines, sharing and interacting with other children. They learn how to express their feelings, solve problems and learn some literacy/numeracy skills. The KINDEROO - School Readiness Program supports healthy life choices through nutrition education and physical fitness activities. The program is positive and builds on strengths, based on the Virtues program. Ease the transition from home to kindergarten.
Available to 3 - 5 year old children (Your child must be turning 4 years old by December 31, 2012 and intends to go to school in the fall)
This is a six week program (three days per week - three hours per day).  Kinderoo will run from July 10th to August 16th, 2012.
