New Blog series...Monday's Motivated Moms!

After the success and many positive comments on my "Kids in my Kitchen series" my friend Nicole suggested an idea to me today for a new blog series and I think it's a great one.

I would like to spotlight those of you who are working as independent consultants for a home based business. Maybe you sell Pampered Chef, or Epicure, or Enjo or Usborne Books. Maybe its Silpada jewellery or Tupperware or Party Lite Candles. Maybe you hand crochet baby hats. Or paint on milk cans. Or bake cakes. Many of you do this on the side after working your full time job all week, all the while balancing your kids, spouse, volunteer work and extended family.

But you do it, and you love it. I want to hear about it. And I think others will too.

I am going to launch a new Monday morning series, called Monday's Motivated Moms. (Cause I think most of you that read this and will be interested in participating, are moms.)

I want you to highlight your business, what it is, why you do it on top of everything else you do and why you love it. Because the title of the series references "moms", I want to hear how this affects your family, what your goals are, etc.

In publishing your stories, I want to highlight women in our area that have found a passion and are working to share it with others. Who work this job because they want to, because they believe in it. And I want to help you grow your business. Everyone who reads my blog will read about you and your business. You can link up your website, your facebook page, etc. You can include pictures if you want, and you can even do a giveway or offer an incentive for business that comes from the blog post.

I look forward to hearing and publishing your stories, and educating all those that read this blog and introducing them to all the different products and services available to them.

You can explain what you do and why better than I can. So if this interests you, leave a comment on the blog (not facebook) detailing what business you would like to tell us about and how I can contact you. I would like to highlight a different story each Monday. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment area on the blog (not facebook) so everyone can see them, and the answers. If you think you know someone who would be a good candidate for this, please pass this along to them.

Are you ready to grow your business? Get some free advertising?
Tell me your story.

This IS a great idea and totally needed around here! I run a store in Seaforth with 3 other Moms called The Momz Store. We sell stuff for pregnancy, to baby and beyond and things for the busy Mom. This started as an at home internet business by Lisa Pullman and her dream was to have a store front to house her dream as well as provide parents and others with a gathering space, a resource centre and much more. A very important part of our business is to showcase those WAHM's and give them a "brick and Mortar" place to have their products. We have a soap maker from Dublin, local sewers, knitters, gift basket makers, etc, and we're always looking for more great small businesses to help in any way we can. We also run events outside of the store to help those people showcase their items directly to the public in a vendor setting, such as The Beat The Mall event at the beginning of December in Exeter for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron. We feel like we're working from home because we can take our kids to work with us and its become our home away from home LOL :)

AND, I'm a photographer too! I studied at Fanshawe College and have been building my photography experience since.I generally work out of my home and I have a studio space in the back of our store, Momz. I will do on-location shoots and generally specialize in bump, baby and kid photography as well as families and whatever people need done really! I'm ALWAYS up for a challenge! Find me on Facebook under Amanda Marshall Photography to see some of my work and to contact me for more information.

Saw your post on Momz Inc. in
Seaforth. I'm a single mum running a busy daycare in my home. For the past 3 years my mum and I have started a business making wool diaper covers by knitting and recycling wool sweaters. We are featured on earthfriendlycanada.ca and momshomemade.ca. I am in the process of creating other products from the recylcled sweaters...love the idea of using something old to make something new.

Hi Melissa!
I love your blog and think this idea is awesome! As you know I'm a location photographer (and Mom) who recently took my business full time. Becoming a Mom not only changed my personal life dramatically but also my career. It's hard work sometimes to manage both being a Mom and an entrepreneur but I wouldn't have it any other way!
