About Me

Melissa
I grew up in a village of 500 people and now live in a beach town of 10 000. Wife to Jeff, Mama to Makenna and Jack. This is my place to share what's up with us, and the place where I sometimes need to pour my heart out about the not so sunshiney moments. This is my happy place. Thrifty Thursday!

No, Thrifty Thursday is not a new series, it just fit as a title for this post!
I did a little Thrift Store Shopping today and came away with such a good haul that I wanted to share!

First I looked around in "Blessings" a second hand store in Zurich that donates all of their proceeds to the local Food Bank. I found 2 shirts and 2 pairs of PJ pants for Makenna, as well as 2 bags of coin rollers, something I was planning to pick up this evening at our local Dollar Store. The clothing items were 75 cents each, the coin rollers 50 cents each, for a grand total of $4.00 spent.

This shirt for Makenna is an XS from Suzy Shier and will be cute with jeans or a skirt, with a little brown or pink tank top underneath.

And this tunic for Makenna, which I realize is kind of hard to see, is made by Cherokee and will look great with either jeans or tights.

Then at the end of my c r a z y workday I stopped into "Rack and Room" in Clinton, a store that after being heavily damaged by fire a year ago, has recently reopened. I ended up experiencing some surprising Retail Therapy!

i got the giant Caillou Body Pillow, which Jack is just ecstatic about, for $1.50, 3 books for $1.00 - a Blue's Clues book, A to Z by Sandra Boynton (who I love) and not pictured here, The Hat, by Jan Brett, which Makenna was very excited to receive as she knows this story well from school. I got some kids drinking cups originally from Ikea that match some I already had (you can barely see them in the above picture, peeking out from under a shirt beside Caillou) and then 6 shirts for MYSELF for $2 each. Total spent at this store: $16.50.

And the shirts I got for myself are really nice, good enough for work, name brand shirts!

(Denver Hayes, originally from Mark's Work Warehouse).

Grand total spent on today's haul: $20.50!!! I was happy.

Jack was happy too :)

Yes Mom, you taught me well :)

Hi Melissa! Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. Looks like you found some great stuff. We loved the Sandra Boynton books, too, when my boys were little.
