About Me

I grew up in a village of 500 people and now live in a beach town of 10 000. Wife to Jeff, Mama to Makenna and Jack. This is my place to share what's up with us, and the place where I sometimes need to pour my heart out about the not so sunshiney moments. This is my happy place. I love you....I love you not...

I love you not...

Crows: There is a family of crows that nests just outside our bedroom window. The window is open to allow for the window fan. The crows wake with the sun and make the most ANNOYING sound first thing in the morning. I can remember my grandpa rushing out the front door of his house with a pellet gun, after the crows. I used to think he was crazy, or had anger issues. Now, I TOTALLY get it.

G20 Protestors in Toronto: Really, do you think you'll get anything accomplished? Do you think your voices will be heard when you behave the way you did this past weekend? Do you think anyone takes you seriously? Protestors this year claimed that the money spent on the summit could have paid to house all the homeless and those needing subsidized housing for a year. Now, the goverment needs to pay for all the damage these protestors caused, and the salaries of all of the police needed this past weekend to control the chaos, once again taking money away from where YOU think it should be. Perhaps if you have something to say, and you want to be heard and respected, you could try acting like adults. Especially those that took their children to the protests. What role modelling. Parents all over the country are now questioned by their children about what they saw on the 6:00 news and why grown ups are behaving that way. I have no issue with "standing up and fighting for what you believe in". I work in an advocating field. My issue is with the way these people conducted themselves. Ridiculous.

Tornadoes: There have been so many of them lately...all around us, but not right close to us. As I type this I am watching a report of 4 deaths in Port Huron from a tornado this evening. They terrify me.

I love you...

Fresh strawberries: ahhhh. My brother's birthday is tomorrow and it is synonomous with Mom's strawberry pie. Every year for as long as I can remember. Yesterday the kids and I made strawberry popsicles and even Jeff loves them. I am making a few strawberry cheesecakes this week. I have no shortage of recipes, I just have to get it all done before they are no longer available! Then, I'll be awaiting Ontario peaches, and sweet corn...mmmm.....

Rainy Days: Not always, but I did love it today. I had no energy or ambition to do anything anyway, so I didn't feel guilty for napping when the kids did. Then once they got up, they painted.

Then we let them play in the rain, which Makenna thought was just awesome.

Then they painted some more before having baths.

It was a fun, impromptu afternoon.

My Michael: 25 tomorrow. Happy Birthday buddy!

Yep, we definitely had strawberry pie for dessert when he was here last night! Too bad you guys weren't able to join us, but that meant there was leftovers for me. I think he's counting on strawberry cheesecake from you on Thursday.
