About Me

Melissa
I grew up in a village of 500 people and now live in a beach town of 10 000. Wife to Jeff, Mama to Makenna and Jack. This is my place to share what's up with us, and the place where I sometimes need to pour my heart out about the not so sunshiney moments. This is my happy place. Thanks for stopping by :) Copyright 2012 by Melissa Wormington, that no part of this blog may be reproduced in any form or by any electronic or mechanical means, without permission from the publisher.

I love you..I love you not....

I love you...

Funny things my kids say: Yesterday when we got to the YMCA for Makenna's swimming lessons and were getting out of the van, Makenna says "Wow, that's a lot of tattooes". So I'm looking around, and I don't see anyone. So I ask her what she's talking about and she points at a car...there's nobody anywhere near it so again, I ask her "what tattooes?" Turns out she was talking about the car's bumper stickers. The car had a lot of bumper stickers on it, and she called them tattooes.
Later that night, during her bath, she informed her Daddy that the next time Mommy had a baby it had better be a girl because she was sick of boys and was ready for a sister. I informed her that I didn't plan on having any more babies at all. She was not impressed.
Jack had a chocolate chip cookie. He didn't want to finish it, so I asked him, 3 times, if Mommy could have it. He said yes and watched me finish it. 30 minutes later he came up to me demanding his cookie. I told him that he said Mommy could eat it, and he watched Mommy eat it and now it was done. He opened my mouth and peered inside, looking for it. I told him it was in my tummy so he, repeatedly, looked down my shirt, trying to find his cookie. It was funny to watch him to to figure that out.

Blogging: I enjoy writing this blog, for a number of reasons. Ever since I was a pre teen, I have liked to write. When life became overwhelming and I had a lot on my mind, I would write down what I was thinking, to try to make sense of it all. I found it really helped me to gain clarity. Now that I am a bit older, life continues to get interesting, and sometimes I get overwhelmed by all that goes on. I started this blog a couple years ago, but just started sharing it recently. None of our family lives in Goderich, and our kids don't see their extended family as much as we all wish they could. This is a great way to share stories about them that don't necessarily warrant a phone call. It's also an easy way to share information to everyone at once. Sometimes I have just so much on my mind, I have to get it out. Sometimes I really want to write about something, but i know I can't share it here, because it is just too private. So I just write it out in a regular Word Document, keep it for a few days, and then delete it. And sometimes, I write about something else, and it still helps.
The other thing I love about blogging is the community. I have a number of friends that blog, and I follow other blogs of people I have never met. I love reading other people's blogs and learning more about them. I also like to look at their style of writing, and learn from that too. People comment back and forth, encourage and support eachother, and I really appreciate that. I am not writing for other people, I am writing for me...but knowing what I have written has struck a cord with someone else, or receiving a compliment about what I have written, encourages me to keep doing it, which is good for my soul. It also helps me to remember the little moments, and the bigger picture, that can get lost in the day to day details of life.

Lazy Saturdays After last weekend's super busy Saturday, this weekend was much more relaxed. We all even had a 2 hour nap in the afternoon...it was wonderful.

A & W I "heart" the teen burgers from A & W. I really do. I could eat them every day. I don't, but I could.

I love you not...

Reruns: I am a slave to the Thursday night ABC line up. I plan my entire evening around McDreamy and Taye Diggs. It's become an institution in and of itself. And I hate when there are reruns. Do I need a life? Maybe. But I like my life with McDreamy and Taye Diggs.

Drive through line ups at Tim Hortons: First of all, I am one of the rare Canadians that CAN drive by a Tim Hortons and not get sucked in. My husband is not. He will sit in the drive through line for what feels like a half hour, to pay for a cup of coffee. It is always lined up around the store and to the road, and yet he always gets sucked in. He won't even park and go into the store, which is obviously much quicker. I don't get it.

Dishes. They just never end.

Have a good week!

ha ha! I don't actually mind laundry. It's not as labour intensive as dishes!
